Our Annual Model Show 2nd June 2018
It comes round very quickly, then its gone, like most good things it never lasts. But what a show it was!
Our annual model show has always been a highlight of the year, for us and for many people, this year was no exception. Setup on Friday went very smoothly, tables laid out in the now familiar grid format, plenty of room for clubs to sit behind and store their purchases.
Saturday saw an early start for us, 7pm to open up for the hand full of traders who had made the trip from afar.
Salisbury members lent a hand carrying stock into the hall for the numerous traders, who by 7.30 had all turned up, and slowly but surely the hall started to fill up.
Then the clubs started to arrive and the hall soon filled up with clubs laying out their displays, and some very good displays were on show this year.
Doors official opened at 9.30, but by 9.25am we already had a sizeable queue of people waiting to get in, so we open the doors early and the flood gates opened.
This set the pattern for the rest of the day, we had a steady stream of punters through the door, the competition room quickly filled up, especially the junior section (kindly sponsored by Salisbury’s very own Salisbury Model Centre, thanks again to Sibo), catering was as always a popular place.
By 10.30 are ample car park was full, but this did not stop people from coming, turn over of spaces was good, but it is something we are always looking to improve on.
By 4pm the show was winding down, some clubs and traders had already stared to pack up, but this seems to be the norm at other shows as well, foot fall tends to fall away quite quickly by 3pm.
We had many positive comments about the show and some negatives, but these are all concerns that we know about, and we try to rectify year on year, we take peoples/clubs/traders concerns very seriously and we will endeavour to make next years show even better.
Finally, by 6pm we were able to hand the hall over to the school and some of us made our way to the pub for our annual drink and swap stories from the day, a few of us stayed on to have a bite to eat, then it was home for a well earned rest.
We are already planning for next years show, check back here for info in the coming months, also visit our dedicated Model Show Website.
See you next year!
