21st April Virtual Club Night 2020

Fifth week in lockdown and there is no stopping our club from making models.

We had our second VCN (Virtual Club Night) last night thanks to Richard for hosting it again. These are proving to be very popular at this time of lockdown, always a pleasure to catch up with those members who join the meetings, we had a few new faces last night, would be great to see a few more members joining in.

It’s a great way of keeping in touch and hearing everyone’s news, and importantly news of those who are not well during this time – Our heartfelt best wishes to you all, hope you get well soon.

As we had our committee online, and our show organiser we decided to make a decision on our Model Show, so it is with a heavy heart we have had to cancel it.
We will come back bigger and better next year – we could have a theme for our show, “Models From Lockdown 2020”.

We tried out few features in Zoom, Richard will see if he can do a demo on Rusting via Zoom, and Mike H will give us his talk, scheduled for 16th June.

Phil has finished his 1/32 Spitfire, and what a great job he has done of it to:

Tony H showed us his finished 1/48 Scale Boeing B-17G from HK Models:

Little Miss Chief was a B17G from the 91st BG based at Bassingbourne during 1944. She completed the war with over 100 missions and went back to the USA in 1945.

Richard L had some recent models to show us as well:

Oz is working on a WW2 diorama, we had sneak peek of the base and the Sherman that will be the central part of it:

Richard C showed off his latest Post Apocalyptic diorama:

Bob L has a tip for those of you who are running out of spray paint:

I have been using this product the last few builds it’s £7 a can brilliant finish if you are not on lock down available in the Range, last lot from Ebay (free delivery) quick drying, very flat finish
PLEASE NOTE. Spray outdoors

We will be holding another VCN on 5th May invites will be sent out soon.

Keep Safe, Keep Modelling.

  1. Richard, just seen your finished Tamiya Spitfire. Beautiful, one of the nicest builds you’ve ever done.

  2. Some great models on show. Maybe Phil’s been to quick to reveal his Spitfire though ( dead line is August 6th) I’m sure its missing an Antenna wire LOL. Seriously though it looks great, as does mine ( well the box art does…. it’s still in it). Nice Sherman too.
